Engine Swap 5.0 - 5.8

Hello. I am new to the boards. First off ill tell you what i have,

1990 F-150 XLT Lariat 5.0 Standard Cab, Longbed
2000 XLT Extended Cab 6 1/2' Bed 5.4 <<< Two of them

On the 1990, I am redoing it. it is ready for new paint (old paint came off grr) Engine also needs replaced, leaked oil.

My Question: is the 5.0 in the 90 interchangeable with the 5.8 (351)? or are the motor mounts different?

Even if the motor mounts are the same, they are 13 years old. If you're thinking of swapping in a different engine, go ahead and replace the motor mounts at the same time. They are probably only $15-20 each.

The 302 & 351W uses the same motor mounts & are in the same location. The trans.& flywheel will also interchange. But, the 351W has a taller deck on the block which means the engine is about 2" wider. You will have to use 351W mounting brackets for the A/C,P/S,A/P, & Alt. Also, iF your using the MPFI system you need the PCM for the 351W as well.

The PCM is the main Engine/Trans. computer. There are 3 different 351 engines---A 351M(modified) 351C(cleveland) & the 351W(windsor). The windsor is the most commond 351 & is the one that would be the easiest to swap, since the late model version of them came with the MPFI system. Yes, the '90-'93 would be the windsor engine.
