metalic noise

when i floor my truck and right befor it shifts into second it makes this metalic sound for half a second then it shifts and it is gone. it sounds like a chain that is loose or something. i cannot even begin to figure out what it is. it seems to happen most when i get to redline and take my foot of the gas just a little bit before it shifts. it comes and goes and most of the time when i put the pedal to the floor and leave it there it will not make it or it will make it for 1/4 of a sec.

sounds like it maybe coming from your catalytic converters...they maybe breaking apart and when you really hit it is the only tell tale sign....do you hear sound when you rev it in park?.

stoner,

I have a very similar noise to what you're describing, expect mine happens upon acceleration. I'm bringing my truck in tomorrow b/c something is up with the ABS and while it is there, I want them to investigate this strange noise. I'll post once I find out.

Stoner,

In case you're still interested: My "metallic" noise turned out to be a part tag in between one of the cat's and heat shields. Maybe your problem is something similar.

i know that exact noise you are talking about, my uncles truck did it too, bu i don't think that is it, bec it disappeared when i put in higher octane fuel. so i don't know. but i will look.
