Ford vs. Chevy?

Hey Guys,

I was wondering if a 2003 SuperCrew 4X4 with a 5.4-V8 and 3.73 can stay with a 2003 Chevy HD 4X4 with the Duramax diesel/Allison tranny? Would the chevy have better 0-60 times and how would the quarter times compare? With or without mods. Just wondering...

Apples and oranges. I don't think you can make a fair comparison. But if they are unloaded the the tire smoke from the screw should clear just fine by the time the Chev gets outta first gear. On the other hand each with same load it's prolly neck and neck. With a full rated load the chev wins.

I have to tell you the truth. I have a 2000 Ford supercab 4x4 ORP with a gibson exhaust, superchip, transgo shift kit, volant air intake. My best friend has a 2003 GMC crew-dually 4x4 with the Duramax. He has a 5" exhaust and a computer programmer. I'll tell you what , that truck can smoke all 4 rear wheels through 1st, 2nd, and into 3rd. I could n't believe it. We raced many times, and he annihilates me every time. It really is impressive. My best 1/4 is 16.09. The place that he bought his programmer told him his 7500 lb dually should be good for mid 14's. We're going to the track to see for sure. The Duramax really is a hell of a motor, but I still want to put one against a 6.0 powerstroke.

Thing is, the DMax has a programmer, which adds alot of hp, to any diesel.

But the sad fact is, He has less money in mods and a 7500 lb dually, would smoke most of us with our mods.

With the programmer

His truck was very close to mine bone stock. The programmer he has is THE EDGE JUICE. It has 5 settings, the top giving an extra 100hp, and extra 250 lbs/ft torque. I know it's hard to believe, I would have never believed him if I didn't see. I hate GM's, but I have to give this one to him. When you see a 4x4 crew cab dually smoking the hell out of the tires and one that will lose tractionshifting into second and get a little swirly doing it, you'd believe it.

diesels get a HUGE bump in horsepower and torque from reprogrammed chips; way more than the meager gains realized in gas engines. that is because they have a turbocharger to work with. my neice's husband always puts a chip in his powerstroke diesels and the gain in power is unbelievable.

He also paid $7-8k more for a similarly equipped Chevy HD Duramax/Allison than an F-150 Supercrew.

Putting all mods aside, would a 2003 SuperCrew with the 5.4 and 3.73 4X4-K&N filter-Magnaflow catback have a chance against a 2003 stock Chevy 2500 HD with the Duramax engine? I would think that the Chevy would have the Ford for lunch up to 30 MPH, then the Ford would take over. I have a buddy that has the Chevy but he has all the mods and the truck fly's...He burns rubber in 1st, 2nd and 3rd gears. Unbelievable...but true.

Just an update. We went to the track last night. My friends 7500 lbs crew cab dually ran a 15.2, 15.3, 15.5, and a 15.6. Pretty impressive for onlt an exhaust, and programer. Looks like I'll have to get a new Powerstroke and whup is a$#.

FORD is better than Chevy no matter what. The Chevy may be faster from time to time, but they will break down and be sitting on the side of the road as FORDS drive by them all day long.

I hate to say it but it think the chevy has got u they run 325 ponies and 520 pounds of torque i believe. That torque will still kick *** up to 100 mph ( when they shut down).. i know i had a 460 in a 94 f250 a while back u could peg it at 80 mph and it would still pull like a b*tch. And that engine was only rated at 260 horses i belive but it had almost 400 pounds of torque. It was bone stock. Let us know what happens im sure we are all curious. Good luck
