A friend of mine has a 96 (but it's a 250) with the PS. I believe he gets around 17-18 mpg. The mpg doesn't move very much even when trailering.

Be careful - I think think 1st year of the PS is 1995.

A 94 would be a turbo 7.3, but not the power stroke. The biggest difference is that the PS has direct injection heads and the non- PS is indirect (preignition chambers). The engine is very difference than the older 7.3s, the only thing they share is the displacement.

If the 94 is a non-PS, its still a decent truck and that motor (while not a tire burner) will last forever.

Is the 17 - 18 city miles? or Highway?

I'm still new to it and kinda confused.

Do you mean be careful cause it's a power stroke or is Ps refering to the piston slap problem?

I"m just wondering cause I want something that'll last me a long time so I don't wanna buy into a problem that's gonna cost me a lot of money down the line I'm only in college (sophomore) so it's gonna have to live on campus with me so I want it to be able to be reliable and dependable.

PS = power stroke
He's saying be careful if someone is advertising a PS in a truck before they existed - who knows what else they are lieing about

Oh actually no one is advertising it. I was actually at a gas station waiting while my girlfriend fueled up and I was tailing her and I was just looking at this very well kept f350 power stroke and it was in such beautiful condition that I was wondering about it I'm looking to replace my current vehicle with a truck, although I have not too much purpose for a truck, other than the many times I will be packing and unpacking my stuff from room to room during my college year, and hauling a few mountain bikes to and from locations and paintball gear, I'm not going to be really using it to haul like gravel or bricks or tow huge boats. But I'd like a decent size full size truck that has a nice look to it as well as functional. I think the 95 and prior more box shape is really nice looking when it's well kept and sleek.

Heavy duty trucks do not have to report EPA estimated fuel mileage which is why you are having a hard time finding them. In the real world, gas mileage is in the 18mg range for light city use and anywhere from 15-25 empty on the highway. They are very sensitive to speed. 80mph = 16mpg and 65mph = 25mpg.

All you ever wanted to learn and know about Ford diesels is at the site above.

BTW, from what I understand the Powerstroke did come out in late 94.

If in good running condition you should expect to see low to mid teens in town and high teens on the highway for mileage.

It all depends on the truck configuration. If it's a dually with 4:10 gears don't expect great mileage. If it's 2wd with lower gears you could see upwards of 20 on the highway.
