This is getting ridiculous
Awhile back, I told some guys on here about a race that was supposed to go down. It was to be for $200, and it was against a 1984 Camaro, 350 4 bbl. Well, I told the guys on here, Friday morning, at 2 am. I did say that, and i admit it. But i meant to say Saturday, at 2 am. I just got all mixed up. And they showed up at friday, pretty pissed when i didnt go. Anyways, afterwards, they all yelled at me, and flamed me on here. And now, whenever I ask a question, nobody seems to answer it. I mean...Come on...I messed up, and I'm sorry...But I need all the help I can get here! I wrote a thread on my Tranny, and It was viewed 36 times, but never responded to. Well, here it is again, and anyone that wants to take a crack at it...Go right ahead...
hey...I've got a '94 F-150, with the 5.8L V-8...It's got the E4OD tranny, and it was squeelin and slippin pretty bad, so I did a flush. Well about a week before the flush, it wouldn't go into reverse. I had to put it into neutral, and push it outta my driveway! NOW, after the flush, Neutral is a drive gear, and Reverse does nothing...Like it's neutral. Drive, first, and second work fine.. Park does park, but it rolls ahead pretty far before engaging. I looked at the linkage, and it seems fine...I would think maybe i hit it and dislodged it when pulling off the pan, but it acted up once before the flush! I think it may be shot, as it still squeels...But i haven't noticed any slip yet. (only driven once since flush, about a week ago). Anyone have any ideas on this? Maybe you've had the same problem? ANY little input is greatly appreciated! Thanks....

Why don't you call us MF's ? We respond well to that....
BTW posting in the engine section will not gaurantee a tranny question gets answered. Try posting in the tranny or pre 97 section.
FWIW, I suspect the linkage is out of adjustment and or the DTR sensor is faulty. Check it again and make sure the connectors are not corroded. Do the reverse lights come on when the shifter is put into reverse?

Well i can't really help you with the your tranny problem. If I were you though I would create a new user name and start over. Most of the people that you rubbed the wrong way are the ones who know the most.
I'm not trying to be rude but it might help you get more replies in the future. Good luck with your tranny.

Well do they light up or not? Pretty sure doesn't cut it. You bitch and moan about getting no help and now you are too lazy to go out and check if the lights work or not. Guess where this is going.......

Do you ever go back and read them ?
For someone who claims his occupation is a mechanic ( see you upgraded yourself from apprentice mechanic ) you sure don't know squat about cars and trucks. Before you claim it is not the case, you might want to check your MSN home page configured in your profile.

You complain that your don't get help, but you don't have basic mechanical problem diagnoses information.
I have see Operations Center people that have better information posted back about problems then you do.
Here is a good question, did you ever get a service manual for your truck ?
Last few posts you could not even figure out the error codes that the truck was flashing, you just started swaping stuff left and right.
If you want help with problems, you need to apply yourself a little bit.
Get a service manual, read it, and follow what is in it.
That easy. If you follow this guideline, when you post with a problem you can post : it does this ( i.e. gear selection is messed up ) and I checked the linkage in Reverse and Drive, and the postion of it is X and Y.
When the gear selector is in Reverse the lights do / don't light.
When the gear selector is in neutral on the gear shifter and I can / can't start the truck.
See the amount of detail that is. This way you might have a post about as long as the first one, no bitching about how it is driving your crazy ( that is not useful info ) and it provides factual information relevant to the problem, i.e. the problem diagnoses steps in the service manual.
I don't know if they are exactly the same, but isn't your dad's truck the same tranny config as yours ? Ever think of going step by step through the gears, and checking it against your dad's truck if they are the same configuration ? Just don't do to your dad's what ever you did to yours. ( some additional info missing, how did it get this way ? )
I'm a network geek by vacation, and I think I might have a leg up on you on working on trucks, for the simple reason of I can read and follow directions ( in the service manual I bought ).
Try helping yourself a little bit before you go the route of others and start complaining about not getting FREE help.

I'm with JMC on this one. It sounds like the tranny is functioning, but the linkage is out of adjustment. Looking at the linkage might not help. I know that there is an adustment tool shown in the Haynes manual for the autos. It's not just a matter of making sure there is no slack in the cables.
Of course the Haynes book shows the special tool, but says nothing else about how to do it.
As for the post in the transmission section, I've noticed lots of threads over there go without response for a while. I think trannys are one of the "unknown" things for a lot of people.

With the engine off, try putting it in nuetral, then try to start the truck. If it starts I'd say the linkage is o.k. and you have a blown reverse clutch in the trans. If it doesn't start then the linkage is out of adjustment.

Punch in the year and model and it will take you to a very basic Chilton's service manual for your truck.
Good luck

Could have sworn that I answered this question once before
Maybe it wasn't you that asked. Check the linkage and make sure that it is in reverse as the indicator says inside of the truck and then make sure that the back-up lights are on as well.

He went and posted the question again, I guess he is another one like Mr Call everyone MF's.
The 3rd post was 2 min after his reply on I think the backup lights come on....

Another one to **** off everyone and abandon a thread, and pretend it did not happen I guess.
Maybe they really are related
There is another one for the ignore list.....
