injector question
injector question
im curious to find out what kind of symptom i would have (if any at all) if my 19# injectors were not handle my fuel requirement. i have a 2002 supercrew with a 5.4 which had 260 hp. i have gotten a setup with mike and now have a magnaflow exhaust, airforce one intake, superchip programmer, and electric fans. mike said im pushing 310, and i heard that 304 is the magic number for the 19# inj. would i KNOW if i needed larger?
i appreciate any help i can get.....

Unless you've increased the amount of air coming into the engine with a supercharger and/or larger throttle body, recalibrated MAF, I don't see how the #19 injectors wouldn't be able to keep up.
If you were running lean, there would likely be pinging as well as an MIL. The HO2 sensors would pick up on it if the injectors were not flowing enough fuel.

AjRagno hit it on the head. Either lean misfire under load or pinging would be the most obvious problems. Melting plug electrodes might be another symptom. Can't imagine you having any problem with your current set though.
on paper it might not work but think of all the people here with the same mods that have not installed bigger injectors.
also, not to start a big debate but those numbers are best case situations. before i went to the expense of the injectors and reprograming, not to mention the labor, i would put it on something that measured air/fuel ratio to confirm that it is on the jagged edge. this could be a $500 plus expense for somthing you dont need.
i have yet to see anyone here confirm that injectors where need , installed them and then confirmed that the air fuel ration was correct.
