Help w/ possible problems

I recently purchased a used 2001 F150 XLT 4x4 w/28K miles on it. I've noticed three problems (hopefully minor--or maybe it's just me).

The first being a slight "bump" feeling when the truck takes off from a dead stop. I don't know if it is a rough gear shift or if that is just how this truck makes its first shift (auto tranny). It does not do it from a roll or driving speed. Has anyone had this issue?

My second question is in reference to the A/C. I noticed that when it is running it is very loud--sounds like a generator running until I hit the gas pedal. When I'm on the gas, the noise is gone. Is this normal?

Third, have any of you had moisture drip from you exhaust underneath your truck? (Not from the exhaust tip, but closer to the muffler). The A/C had not been on when I noticed this.

These all may be normal but I thought I'd check before my factory warranty expires. At least I can get Ford to repair any defects. Thanks!

There should be a small pin hole at the bottom back of the muffler the water is probably coming from. This is normal. no worries. Sorry I can't help on the other two issues.

Thanks. It's good to know I won't have to go and replace my exhaust right away.

I can help with the driveline clunk. It is the tail shaft of the transfer case that is just a little loose. Its normal and the fix is to grease up the output shaft and reinstall the slip yoke.

My 01 doesn't have air, so I can't help you with that, but my previous 97 had air that growled pretty loud. Didn't seem to affect the performance at all though. All in all I think your truck is probably in good shape and you'll be very happy with it.

Thanks for the help! It looks like most of this stuff is pretty minor. I appreciate all of the feedback.

Check the mounting bolts on the AC compressor. Some have reported loose bolts causing belt damage and wierd noises.
