Unhappy Help, Dropped Bolt

I was changing the gasket on my EGR valve today and dropped the front bolt and gasket between the intake manifold and block. This is the same thing that happened to FordOkie last week. I attempted to find it with a magnet, but have been completely unsuccessful, is this something I should be worried about? If anyone has any ideas on finding it, please share.

Thanks

I wouldn't count on finding it anytime soon unless you want to take apart the entire upper intake manifold. That's what I had to do after I dropped my 1/4" drive ratchet down there. It sucks.

I dropped my 1/4" ratchet down there last year, too. I think it's still lodged. Man it sucks!

Thanks guys, I think I might just have to leave it down there then. I am going to find out what size bolt that is, and attempt to find a replacement.

There is a hole in the back of the block that goes into the bellhousing. Most and the keyword is most have a plastic plug that prevents foreign objects from entering the bellhousing. If your engine has the plug you shouldn't need to worry about it, if not, its not pretty, I've seen intake bolts dropped at the factory lock up engines and bust bellhousings. One trick is to remove the alt it gives a little more room to search.

Find a proctologist. I'm sure they have the equipment to find and recover anything you dropped. If not, they can give you a taste of what it will be like to go to the dealer to have them look for it.
