Diesel In Gas Engine
Trust me on this, diesels run great on gasoline. Real fast, real strong, until the motor seizes in about 45 seconds! Pistons melt, injection pumps seize, injectors shatter and heads / blocks crack.
How do I know you may ask? My ex-girlfriend (10 years ago) filled the tank with premium on my 83 GMC 6.2L diesel. Thought she was doing me a favor, and she did. I had to swap the motor for a 454

Sorry man but she did do a favor if she blew your 6.2 diesel. IMO, those are one worthless diesel engine. I wish I had 5 cents for everyone of those that were swapped out for a gas engine.

It happens....... I was travelling across a "isolated" area in Montana one Sunday last summer and was getting low on gas. Found an out of the way country store with pumps. Pulled in and put in $20.00 dollars worth of "gas." Drove over to the store and payed...... Truck started running crappy as I was pulling out on to the highway. Made it about a mile down the road and it was running really, really bad........ Turned around and limped back to the store. Checked the pump, and on the backside, noticed marking in felt pen that said diesel! Sh 1 t .............. Manage to siphon the diesel out through the vent line for the tank after much goofing around. Filled the tank with gas, and off I went, sorta. Blew up one cat on the LHS. likely got plugged.
When I got talking to the people that ran the store, they made the comment....... "Jeez, the last guy that did that couldn't even get his truck started, we had to get it towed!" Never mind what I said..........
Anyway, if you haven't noticed any ill effects by now, you're likely ok......

Aw come on KYFordFreak. You don't think 165 HP and 250 ft-lbs of blazing raw power is awesome in a 1-ton!
Hehe, yeah that thing was a boat anchor. Had no business being in a truck of that size. What a huge difference in performance when I swapped in the 454.

Union 76 here...diesel #2 handle is green. Plus big label. Nozzle appears to be same size as unleaded nozzel. These pumps (for cars/lt. trucks) are on island along with unleaded pumps. Its also a truck stop (separate islands) for the big rigs.
As i recall, ive seen other brands here with "green handles" but dont know if thats a standard color used everywhere...or just some brands?

I'm gonna agree with most of the others. A diesel nozzle should NOT fit into a gas vehicle. I used to work in a gas station / truck stop prior to becoming a paramedic. There are 2 sizes of diesel nozzles - both of these are bigger than an unleaded nozzle and will not fit into gas vehicles from the mid 80's & up. I think this is a requirment in New York.
I have also attempted to put diesel in my truck. I put diesel into ambulances all day so it's a bit of a habit. The only thing that saved me was the bigger nozzle. BTW, the diesel nozzles at this station are yellow.
I would definately contact Flying J's & complain. They have admitted to a problem, considering it happens 3-4 a week. They need to stock larger nozzles for the diesel pumps. They are attempting to save $$$ by using the same nozzles for all applications at your expense. People need to start complaining to the larger corp. person instead of the local manager.
On another note - gas and diesel don't mix unless introduced under high pressure, higher than any consumer gas / diesel pump can provided. This should make cleaning things out a bit easier.
