Amsoil dual remote oil filter - Supercrew 4x4

Galaxy I saw your pictures and was going to mount mine the same, but I don't see enough room for the dual filter with out a different bracket to shift it toward the wheel and inch or two. that is if that is a good idea.
JMC, what is the reason why mounting it horizontal is not recomended? The stock filter is mounted horizontal. Is a filter a filter?

Sounds reasonable that air pockets would form, but I don't see how air pockets would be a problem. There is one big air pocket about your ail pan, not the mention the big air pocket under your valve covers.
I suppose the top of the filter may not get much of a change to filter oil, but that being the case I would have to change it more often.
The other possible problem would be oil draining back into the oil pan. You would never be able to check the oil accurately, or know how much oil to pour in from the start.

The air pocket can cause an interuption of oil to the bearings. The oil starts in the oil pan. The oil pump sucks it up and pumps it to the oil filter. Then it travels to the bearings and the other parts of the engine. If the oil filter is vertical then there is oil in the filter. If it is horrizontal it can drain out of the filter and cause a time lag from the time the engine starts and pressure builds to the point that it can lube the bearings. An anti-drain back valve keeps oil in the filter and in doing so eliminates or deminishes the air pocket.

I have my by-pass mounted in the grill, I doubt that it would get damaged unless something happens that would knock out the entire truck.
Also there is room in the engine compartment if you are good at fashioning a bracket. I though of hanging one off of the batter box.
When there is a will there is a way!!
The reason I chose the grill, is so that I could fit the largest filters. Right now I have over 9 quarts capacity. With a 2 quart by-pass and a quart and a half full flow filter.
The more oil the better!!
Good luck with your choice.

Thanks for the update, I'm looking forward to the pics. I did not make the last oil change, so I decided to change the oil and do an Auto-RX treatment first. I'm at 400 miles, and may go as many as 1,000.
My plan is to remove the front bumper and install it where the Ford remote filter goes. It think there is enough room there and the install will be easier after I take the bumber off.
I'll take a look at your pics, and see how it looks. I am open to a change of plans.
