Angry Check engine LIGHT AGAIN!!

okay, my '94 5.8 has a problem. The check engine light is on. I looked for wire shorts, checked the plugs, wires, and everything. It's not missing, so i don't know. Engine runs fine. I was wondering, could the tranny set off the light? Because the filter is REALLY plugged, and their isn't any fluid getting to the tranny. The result? squeeeeeeeellll...Ya, i know...I gotta flush it, and replace the filter otherwise i'm gonna be in trouble. also, A few times when i went to beat some yellow lights, the truck got stuck in second! Any ideas if these two problems are related?

Cool

HI!... Well if the SES light is on then get the code read!!!!!! That's the only way you are going to find out for sure what is setting off the SES light. It could be many things like :

- bad IAC
- dirty MAF sensor
- bad o2 sensors
- bad EGR valve
- bad IAT
- bad oil pressure sending unit

I could go on and on. Get your truck scanned.

Cool

If I am not mistaken, any tranny problem should show up on your overdrive light. It will blink a certain number of times, etc. If there is a problem with the operation of the engine whether it is in front of the engine (air intake) or the back (exhaust, O2 sensors, cats, etc.) the SES light will come on.

Have Fun & Keep on Truckin'
