Burning oil after oil change??

I just got my oil changed this morning, and then about 7 miles later it started to smoke pretty bad. The oil level is right, I went back and asked the shop about it and they said it could be something about the gasoline and oil mixing. I am not sure if they added anything to the gasoline or not. This happens the most when I stop at a redlight and then go. I also got the fuel filter changed. They blew out the air filter with a compressor, and could dirt have gotten in the engine? I think it may be starting to clear up but do yall have any ideas of what it could be? Thanks

I'm assuming you mean it is smoking out of the exhaust pipe and not from the engine itself. My first thought is spilled oil under the hood, but if that is not the case I have no idea how the oil and gas could be mixing if this is not a diesel.

Yes, it is coming out the pipes. I have checked the oil level everday and the same level. It is starting to clear up some but it still smokes a little. Would a fuel additive cause it to do this? I have not added one but maybe they did. Thanks

Maybe this is what happened-------- I have a friend who bought a brand new S-10 pick-up. He took it in to have an intake manifold gasket replaced and an oil change. When he picked it up, it smoked and knocked, since the shop had just closed he drove it home. To make a long story short they forgot to add the oil until after it was run to check for the intake manifold oil leak. They never bothered to admit thier mistake and good old GM bought him a new engine under warranty. Mistakes happen, maybe they forgot to install the drain plug until it was run for several minutes. Engines don't just start smoking after oil changes---------- unless the old oil was very dirty on a high mileage engine and the new oil's detergent is washing away the crud.
