HI!... DEWEY : Your PCM is located behind the kick panel on the passenger's side under the dash. You simple have to remove the door entrance floor trim and the kick panel. They simply "SNAP" into place. Then look up under the dash against the right hand side of the cab structure. You will see a silver rectangular box. That is the PCM. There is a small plastic "CLIP" that snaps over the end of the PCM it'self to hold it secure. Simple pull that clip off. Then pop your hood and look behind your battery. You will see a bundle of wires going into a long rectangular wire harness clip. There will be a 10mm bolt in the center of the clip. You will need to loosen that 10mm bolt to get the harness clip off the back of the PCM. Now the 10mm bolt will not totally come out. Just keep loosening it untill you feel that it is no longer threaded into the PCM. You might have to remove the battery to get your tools in there. I always just use a 1/4" rachet and a small 10mm socket. Once the harness clip has been removed from the PCM, the PCM will simple fall out into the inside of the cab. By the way this would also be a good time to install a SUPERCHIP if you want.
Hope this helps you out.
By the way MIKE TROYER (aka : SUPERCHIPS DISTRIBUTOR) in the "COMPUTER CHIPS" section of this site can get you a new PCM dirt cheap compared to the dealer. Give him a call at PERFORMANCE PRODUCTS 1-(540) 862-9515. He could also set you up with a SUPERCHIP for your old or new PCM at the same time if you like.

Thanks for the advice.. Question, what would a superchip do for me? I thought that it gave you higher shift points, but that is a moot point on my 5-speed. Does it mess with fuel/air ratio?
thanks in advance.
thanks in advance.
HI!... DEWEY : Well a SUPERCHIP basically will give you more H.P, more TQ, raise shift points on a auto, increase shift firmness on a auto, delete the top speed limiter. On my truck with the 5.4 I went from a bone stock 16.01E.T to a 15.38E.T at the dragstrip witn just the SUPERCHIP. With the SUPERCHIP though you have to run at least 92 octain all the time though. My 5.4 gets 28H.P and 48FT/LBS of TQ with the SUPERCHIP. Give MIKE T a call and he'll explain it all in detail to you. Or go to this sites "COMPUTER CHIPS" section and read up on the SUPERCHIP.
your gonna love this!!!!!
Picked the truck up, after they said "we don't recommend driving it, if it needs a new pcm"... I said "what do you mean "if"".....
I have driven about 300 miles, no light comes on, getting the best mileage i have gotten in a year.., and the guy calls me today to see when I am going to bring it in....and pay for the saturday work (5 hours tech time), and the 600 bucks to put the new pcm in.....
I told him he did magic, and fixed the truck...
told him the whole story, and he was adamant that I still needed a new pcm.
To make a long story short, he didn't charge me a dime for having a tech take all day saturday, and ordering a new pcm, that he will have to restock..
I think he knew that I didn't need the part..
Thanks to all on this site~~~~
Because of this site, I was a little bit more knowledgeable, and didn't have to pay 6 bills to get my truck to run right. I just needed a tech to go and basically clean every terminal on every sensor in my truck...thanks guys.
