oil comsumption

how many of you need to add a quart of oil in between changes?
my 99 f150 with about 30 k miles, needs a quart of oil inbetween every oil change.
i only see a small spot in the drive way so must be burning it or something?
should i go see the dealer before its outta warranty?

If you see your truck leaking oil, and it is still under warranty, take it to the dealer. An oil leak is not going to get better on it's own.

Before taking it in, I would crawl underneath the truck and see if you can determine where the leak is coming from and what fluid is leaking (to be sure). That will also give you more confidence if you have a service department that doesn't want to deal with your problem.

A 1999 may have the notorious oil leak from the back of the passenger side head gasket. I also had the front seal on the tranny replaced on my '99 while under warranty.

Repairing an oil leak can be expensive. This is probably not your fault, let Ford correct their problem.

To answer you question on oil consumption, I've had 3 5.4 F-150's, none have used oil between 3000 mile changes.
