Ouch! Those repair costs seem very high to me.

Wow, new wires and 3.5 hours of labor for $330? I replaced my wires myself in about 45 minutes, wires were around $100. I went slow too, making sure the wires were spaced and routed properly.

I would buy a genreal repair and maintenance manual, try some of the maintenance and repairs.

Some things you can't do yourself, but the more you can learn to do, the more you can save yourself.

We I guess the stealerships around here got me by the short ones. Although thanks to this site I am not going in blind when it comes to diagnosing some of the problems I had with my truck.

Those plug wires really burned me too ...as I'm sure it would have solved the earlier two unneeded repairs.

Although I am usually a do it yourself type when it comes to fixing things, cars today are so complicated with on board computers, and having to move three things out of the way just to fix one thing .... I don't dear put my tools to them.

Finding a good trustworthy mechanic is harder then finding a dentist, internist, or family doctor. At least they have to have a licence to practice. My experince with "independents" in the past has left me and my truck in worse shape then paying the premium for dealer service and peace of mind.

Short of becoming a mechanic myself I am at a loss.....unless someone knows a good mechanic in western NY

You could travel out to Daves Auto Repair, in California. That's a hell of a trip though.

You are definatly paying way too much!

I'm not too sure about where to find an honest mechanic in Jamestown (I will ask around)...do NOT go to the dealership for service and repairs!

I can tell you that I go to B&K Automotive in Salamanca. (I can get you a phone number if you want). This guy is a personal friend and has one of the most technically advanced shops in Catt & Alleg. County (this includes the dealerships). He has fixed problems with my truck after the local dealership couldn't figure it out.
