reset the computer.. can anything go wrong?
Just wondered if anything can be damaged by resetting the computer. Stupid question I know, but a few people I spoke to (including the mech. at the dealership) strongly advised against doing it when I asked. (re: pinging probs)
Silly me forgot to ask why not?...
so.. can I screw anything up by resetting?
TIA

Not that i know of anyway. Everyone resets their computers when they do work on their trucks. All you have to do is take the negative cable off your battery for about a minute and the computer resets itself.

Pulll negative terminal off battery, turn on headlites and ignition to "on" and let sit for 20 mins. Then turn ignition to "off", turn headlites off, and connect terminal. Done.
I did it several times but the last time i did it, the little dash litght that lites up the 80-100 mph went out
oh well ill fix it later

The only "problem" I ever had doing it is one time I got really crappy gas mileage (performance mods) until the computer adjusted itself to what had been added. Now it runs great and gets lower mileage than before the mods.
