Just discovered today that my up to now seemingly perfect 99 5.4 is showing the beginning of the right rear head gasket oil leak. Friendly dealer assures me that the new revised head gasket (multi-layer metal re-enforced) they now have had for several months will fix it. Anyone had any experience with this new gasket? In my favor I do have the extended warranty, will cover all but $100.00 of it. They (the dealer) says they have not yet seen one come back after putting in the new gasket.

 

i picked up my truck 2 days ago from having the new 4 layer head gasket installed on the passenger bank of my 4.6. the dealer told me they have also had no problems with this "FIX" but ive had the truck back for 2 days so time will tell

 

I wish us both luck. Mine won't go in until January 13th, my schedule problems, not the dealers. How long did the dealer have your truck? Mine says they have a mechanic that can knock three or four of these out per day. Hope he is as good as he is fast.
