what can I do?
Well, after I figured out what everyone was refering to with the TACH trick, I have been doing it for about 2 months now. What I have noticed is that I could actually take 2nd gear alot more farther before having to shift. Well, when I didn't have common sense and wasn't using the TACH trick, I would shift by ear and by the MPHs.
So now I realize 2nd can go like 1.5K to 2K RPMs MORE than what I used to do, because I know I ain't even redline-ing yet.
But when I do push it to just 4K-4.5K RPMs, my engine really winds up and my exhaust don't sound nothing like a growl any more. More like a cat dying
What to do? Probably nothing huh. Just shift to third and let third take me to 70MPHs!!!!
Anybody got any mods in mind?

OK,
I won't have that problem, mine has the dual gauges. Just traded my 1997 4.2 for a 2000 4.2, both with 5 speed. I love the shifting, but has enough power that I don't have to constantly shift in town. When I test drove my new one I shifted it like the old one and was going 70 MPH and climbing, wonder what gears it has? Old one had 3.55.
