I can understand your frustration over something as simple as a key. I used to have five or six keys made for my vehicles and think nothing of it.

They really have us over the barrel with these 'computer chip' keys.

You can say that again. I see your point though. It' been over a year to date when I bought my truck. It would seem rediculously unimagineable to come back a year later and ask for a key. LOL! It's not that big of a deal in the first place anyways. I don't know why I even brought it this far. It was just an honest mistake on the salesman's part. And I seem to be overreacting! LOL! Did you ever get that monkey crap out of your truck?

A good dealership will have a routine they go through for all sales where they sit down with you and go through some kind of checklist. It's not like they would want to cheat you out of a key. I don't see how they could use it for anything else. The head could be re-programmed for something else but the stem has been cut up to fit your truck. If your truck was a demo, or had a few miles on it, I'll bet your other key was in some salesman's pocket that had gone out to lunch to get a hot dog.

Thanks for asking about the monkey.
It was one of the worse ideas I ever had.
I left the monkey in there too long I guess. The glovebox doesn't lock and he must have learned how to drive.
One day he and my truck were gone.
Anyway, I got my truck back and the monkey is doing 3 to 5 for Grand Theft Auto.

The police told me they wouldn't have caught him if it weren't for the new road rage laws in effect.

After reading all these posts, pro and con, I still think Peacemaker has a legitimate gripe.

Wasn't HIS fault he didn't know you get two keys with a new truck...was the salesman's fault, and if the dealership had it's act together, never should have happened in the first place. BOTH keys should have been together, and the salesman should have done the "right" (ethical, honest) thing and offered another key at the time of the sale. He obviously knew there should have been two keys, but knew if he opened his mouth and drew attention to it, he would have had to get the key found or a new one made. What a weasel.

You know what they say: a customer will tell at least 10 other people about a BAD sales experience. Think of the class and good will that would have been generated if the dealer had just said: "Get him a new key."

So...he asked nice and didn't get what was rightfully his. His word against theirs. Next vehicle will undoubtedly come from another dealer.

Just my 2 cents.

It is hard to tell these days who is telling the truth. So many people lie to get something for nothing, that they can only assume that he lost one, and is trying to get a freebee.
Go to another dealer and get them, and don't go back to that dealer again. Live and learn, I do it all the time, once you stop learning..you're dead ( or dead from the neck up )

That could be my dealer's view from their standpoint, that I am lying and just want another key becaue I "Supposedly lost mine." I could see how they could think that. And yes, it's hard to tell the sinner's from the saint's these day's. LOL!

PEace,

Like I said above, the key is available from Ace Hardware for 20 bucks and can be programmed very easily by you..if you dont have ace hardware in your area, shoot me an email and I'll pick up a blank that you can have cut at any hardware store.
