yeah....they should supply you with 2 sets for free...

I locked my keys in my truck at my house the other night, but I have an extra set so it was an easy fix.

Luckily I don't have the encoded key, but I do keep a spare behind my license in my wallet. I locked my keys in my truck one night at 3:00 in the morning and it was fun waking my parents to get a spare key.

I talked to my local dealer and he said " Yes sir!" The truck should have came with 2 key's. He said to contact my original dealer and tell him to give me another key. He also told me another key was like $40. I hope they don't give me any bull*****, and fork over my key! LOL! Thanks for the support and wish me luck!

Cool

Probably wouldn't hurt to mention that 25,000 F-150 owners are waiting to hear the outcome of this situation.

Thanks hmustang. Yeah I'm glad too. If I did'nt get the door open, my battery would be dead because I left my key in the acc. position. I was in a hurry and was'nt paying attention to what I was doing at the time. I'm calling the dealer tommorrow to get this mess straightened out. Lord willing. Thanks to everyone for your support. God bless.

Try this.....

I know that one day i will lock my keys in the truck....so i made a door key copy and found a place to keep it on my truck....a great place that i would recomend. Open the gas tank door and you will notice how the hinge connects to the door cover....and perfectly a key will slide into that hinge snugly. as for my truck anyways.... then all you have to do to get it out is have some fingernails.....and you're good to go....No clothes hanger shi+...........as for me telling everyone this, my truck will probably disappear tonight....lol....

I got that beat. I trained a monkey to unlock the doors. I just lock him in the truck. I don't have to use that stinkin' transponder anymore. As I walk up to the truck I just say,
"ou, ou, ee, ee" and the door is unlocked.
I haven't found a way to keep him from changing my radio presets though and how come nobody has responded to my thread...
'How do you get Monkey crap off leather?'

Sorry for the delay. I've had some computer problems. Well, I checked with my dealer (Neil Sandler Ford.) And I told the original salesman (George Holt.), about him giving me only one key when I bought my truck new last year. And the only reply I could get outta him was "Well, there ain't nothin' I can do about it." So I talked to the buiness manager and he said " It sure would be alot of trouble digging up your files from last May on your truck." As you can see, I was getting the run-around. Then he finally came to the conclusion that he would get me another key. But it would cost me $70! For a key I should have got for free in the first place!!! I'm not paying for some stupida$$ salesman's mistakes! That's Ford's service with a smile, IMO!!! Quality is job #1 my a$$!!!!

Unhappy

Peacemaker, I don't think everyone here would have pumped you up like that if we had all the facts.

You have some liability in this situation, it's not all, "Quality is job #1 my a$$!!!!".

The Fact is the Dealer should supply two keys with a new purchase.

The question is how long is the dealer responsible to provide these?

What is reasonable?

A week? (no, more than that)
A month? (no, more than that)
Six Months? (I'm not so sure)
A year later? (I would say no)

If you bought the truck May of last year then, we are talking 15 months and I think the Dealer said what he had to say.
He could provide a free key for good relations but, it sounds like you bought the truck and never went back.

This is my 1st new vehicle. And when I was given 1 key, I thought that was what I was supposed to get. I asked around at other (nearby) Ford dealerships (When I locked my key up.) , and they said I should have definately gotten two key's.(dealer's mistake.) I see your point Raoul. And that is exactly what the dealer told me. But, I did'nt argue with the guy about it. I just told him no thanks, I'm not going to pay 70 bucks for a key. End of story. I did in fact have a copy of my original key made, so that I could open my door in case I locked the key up in my truck again. Sorry for putting Ford service down, but I just got a little carried away with my feelings.
