Questions-4.10s and limited slip

I have a auto with the 3.55s with limited slip diff. Just wondering if you do a gear change, do you have to put a new limited slip diff. everytime you change the gears? Or does the limited slip diff. work for all gears (i hope). I want to get 4.10s. Anyway if someone can answer my question it would muchly appreciated.

Thanks,
Eric

I don't believe that you have to change it everytime...You don't even have to put one in. It's just that if you don't, you'll have traction problems with the new gears. Depending on the limited slip, it can usually be interchangeable between most gear ratios

So I can't use the limited slip diff. that I have for the 3.55s and use it for the 4.10s So the gears and limited slip diff. are somehow connected, as in you can't use the the orignal limited slip and just change the gears?? You have to change all of it right? I'm still trying to learn a little so bear with me.

Thanks,
Eric

It will still work. All 8.8 LS will work with any 8.8 ring and pinion. Everything is the same except for a few more teeth on the gears.
I have been considering 3:90's for a little more pep

yeah..it will work, however if you have a lot of miles on your truck you may want to consider a nice aftermaket LS.

410, limited slip

Thank both of you guys for the quick replys!

Joni Nitro- That's good to know, and it will save me the hassle and money. Now all I have to do is get the gears only.

xlt-sport- I only have 12,000 miles on the ls and on the whole truck, so im good for at another 60,000 miles I hope.

Thanks again,
Eric
