WrongdayJ VS. Talleywacker

I figured since me and J are going back and forth... might as well make a thread for it.

It'll keep this crap out of the other threads.

ok, I'll start:

I bet I can shift to 3rd faster than your auto!!!

Y'all can bicker about trannies all freaking day, but I'll put MONEY that the air in my tires is a lot faster and more pure than the air in both your tires combined!

Dude, I will go along with this Talleywhacker Vs. WrongdayJ thang not because I don't like your set-up, but because with me hitting the Auto trans side and you hitting the Manual trans side. . .we stand a better chance of raising the bar for ALL of the other owners . . .not just ones with sticks.

Cool?

Since you started it off. . .

You may be able to shift into 3rd faster. . .but you won't catch my truck until the top of 4th!

Later,

WrongdayJ

Personally, I'm just very glad I have the ground clearance of my truck and my boots on. Cause, Hoss the B...S... is getting mighty deep in here. Gets much deeper and I'm going to need to move over and fire up my 02 F-250 4x4 Powerstroke and start pulling the little trucks free.

I can understand why you would want a stick in a sports car or something, but for me its much more practical to have an AT. Even if you race your truck sometimes is a manual that much better? Well the Ford SVT guys seem to thinknot as the L's are auto only.

is a manual that much better for racing?....................yes

does it mean autos are better for racing if SVT put autos in L's.................no, it means they are more marketable.

Actually sarmstrong and LBC, the reason the L has a automatic is because Ford doesn't make a 5-speed for the 5.4. Man I thought you were Ford guys!

are you sure they don't make one for the 5.4? i am probably wrong but i thought the 5.4 was available in a manual in the 250's?? are the ones from the 250's not compatible?

i am not a true ford man i guess...just a poser.

but hey, i am trying to learn. its gotta count for something!

Yeah I hear ya LBC, we are all trying to learn. But yes, up untill now the 5.4 was only avalible with the automatic. Ford just came out with a new 6-speed manual for the 5.4 and the 6.0. This is why all Ford trucks w/the 5.4 up untill the new '02's have auto. As for the Lightning, Ford won't considor throwing in the new 6-speed untill they release the next generation L's. That's why the '02 and '03 L will still have the auto.

Hey guys- if Ford could, they would make a standard trans option for the bigger trucks. The only thing is. . .they don't make one that will handle the torque (unless you go to a split differential design like the big rigs have. . .and who wants to double clutch and all that noise). That's why the Lightnings only come with Auto's. Not 'cause they're more marketable (which they are) it's because of strength and durability.

Which is why I like 'em, too.

But for the smaller trucks like ours. . .I gotta admit. . .Talley is correct. It will take me a little more money and I'll have to make a little more power than him to be able to smoke him up like a pack of Kool's. But hey, I'm up to the challenge! Heck, I may never beat his times, but it'll be one fun ride tryin'.

I hear the auto runs pretty nice with the supercharger..

so the one with the most money will always win.
oh did I mention that he lives here in canada!!
and about 8 hours away. guess I will be visiting him soon!
take that boyz.
woulden't it be a shame to see a fully loaded ext cab rolling away from you.
like I said the one with the most money wins.

SuPeRcHaRgErS R 4 WuSsIeS. . .

I was thinking turbo-. . .er. . .ooppss!
(I almost gave away my secret)

. . .Can't let Talleywhacker hear about my ultra mega top-secret plan to run an intercooled turbocharger set-up in my truck in an effort to offset the gains he's gonna get from his ATI procharger set-up now, can I?

Whew! Almost blew it there for a second.
