Question i need more power!

i want to get the new f150 4x4 5.4 supercab.
what do you guys recommend to get for my truck that will give it some extra oomph! i really want to match HD and Lightening in horsepower and 0-60 but neither one is what i want. (Lightening is a 4x2 and HD is a super crew without the flare side)

thanks in advance,
amir

It's going to take a whole LOT to get even close to the s/c HD and L with a 4x4 sc f-150. I'd say start with some engine rebuilding, add a blower, and go from there. It's going to take more than you think to get a stock 4x4 5.4 up to Lightning standards. You need to know what the L already has that the standard 5.4 doesn't , then you need to do more than that because it's a 4x4 and it has more weight.

You MAY be able to get the truck you want to be competitive with the new Harley but NOT the L. The biggest hurdle for you is, as previously posted, weight. The F-150 4x4 supercab is 800 to 1,000 lbs heavier then the L. It also has a much high coefficient of drag, a high rate of loss of HP in the powertrain, etc.

My guess is that you would be more then happy with most any of the aftermarket supercharger systems. While they may not put you in L territory, they will get you to 0-60 about 1.5 - 2 seconds faster then stock.

oh... You could slap on a 11psi procharger, 42# injectors, 90mm maf, 190lph in tank pump, and custom tuned chip for $4,500. This will put you into the upper 13's which would beat a stock HD and you could hang with a stock Lightning. btw, SPELL it right.

Call 214-727-9070 and talk to Derek about the ATI Procharger... Tell him TALLEY sent you.

hummm, stock L weighs approx 4400 lbs. . . SC 4x4 about 5400 . . . . MIGHT help him on his way to the mid 15s but . . . Nope, he couldn't hang

Talley, it will take much more than that! It's going to take some serious engine rebuilding, a good blower, chip, intake, etc. And he still probably won't be close. Come on were talking about a stock standard 5.4..Not the L's..A 4x4 with a supercab...He's going to have to go above and beyond what a L has just to match it.

Crash! ran a 13.9 in a stock supercrew with just the ATI Procharger.... WITHOUT tune or fuel system upgrades. Just put the kit on and ran it down the track.

I was thinking a supercrew and a 4x4 supercab would pretty much weigh the same huh.

Yeah they may weigh about the same, but remeber it's a 4x4! A 4x4 that has 380HP will not be as fast as a L even if they are the same weight. That supercrew may have ran that, but it's blower is a lot better than the Eaton that comes in the L. How much boost was it running at? And how much power did they have that thing producing? I'm guessing that was a 4x2? Info. please...Thanks!

Go to Crash's web site.
http://www.trixters-playground.com/

If you click on the link under his profile, it shows the supporting vendor list, and from what I recall the project trucks are listed on the site with the sec's.

Actually.... one is not better than the other. One is a roots type and the other is a centifugal. Both have there benifits and downfalls.

The boost crash! was at was the the stock kit which runs 8-9PSI The same as a stock Lightning.

Here is the EXACT details about the screw quoted from Crash!'s website:

On Project SCREW, the P1-SC put 350 HP and 408 FT/LBS of torque to the ground BEFORE tuning the fuel system! Weighing in at 5400 lbs, Skid's SuperCrew documented a 13.90 @ 97 MPH with a Superchip and no fuel mods.
Remember... this is a 4x2 and this is on 8-9PSI with NO fuel upgrades. Once he gets 42# injectors, 190lph fuel pump, MAF calibrated for injectors, and a chip to tune for it he should easily be running 13.4 - 13.5 with the same boost levels.

When he ups it to 11psi he will then could be seeing the top end of 12's. More than likely low 13's.

Now... I'm sure with just the Procharger kit w/ 9PSI and all Fuel upgrades with a tune..... a Supercab 4x4 5.4 Should be able to break into the upper 13's.

Don't believe me.... Crash! would say the same thing.

Hey Talley where did you get those times for Crash? I didn't see it on the website. Yeah I know they are different blowers, I just figured he was running more boost than a stock L. Also, that already has more than a L with the chip. They probably don't tell you what else they had on the supercrew to get that time. I'm sure it had slicks, and other minor mods that they didn't bother listing. After all that website is trying to sell products. They aren't going to tell you it took slicks, intake, exhaust, and other minor mods to get that time. They want you to think they did it pretty much with the blower and that's it. They aren't dumb...They want you to buy their product.
As for the Supercab 4x4, let him find out how difficult it would be to match a stock L's times. It may break 13's it may not with what you mentioned...The only way to find out is to see proof from someone who's done it. Either way he's going to have to go above and beyond with what a stock L already has just to match it.
