Assembly Plant Quality Comparison

I just got the VIN for my new F-150 which should be delivered in 2 weeks. The '00 F-150 I have now was assembled in Norfolk, VA, while my new one is coming out of the Oakville, Ontario plant. Does anyone know how these 2 plants compare regarding quality? My current truck has a paint defect which is why I'm getting the new one. Any info provided is much appreciated. BTW - I'm getting the exact same truck as my sig below if that helps. Thanks again.

Ive read some stuff on the message boards about which factory has the highest build quality, and IIRC the Norfolk plant was favored for highest quality over Kansas City and the others.

The Ontario plant is the one that's eventually closing. They also produce the Lightning. My truck, built in Kansas City too had a paint defect (one side of the hood looked like it needed a 2nd coat).

Both my F-150s (1996 and 2002) were assembled at the Norfolk Va, plant and both have excellent quality/reliability. I think most of the regular cabs are made in Norfolk, and Supercabs/Supercrew are made in Kansas City and Canada.

Both of mine (98 reg. cab and 01 Super cab) were both out of the Virginia plant. No problems with either. I've read about a lot of problems with other 98's, but I never experienced any.

With Ontario Truck closing in 2 years, do you think those guys care a whole lot about their future with Ford? Do your time, get paid and look for another, lower paying job in 2 years.

Stay away from OTP trucks if possible.
