distributer hole in block?

does anyone whose had the 4.2L apart know if there is a plug in the block where a distributer could drop in (with a different intake of course). i'm just curious because when the truck gets older i'm worried about it being so computerized and i dont want to have to be buying a new sensor every few months.... just putting a carb with a distributer and an msd would make things alot simpler... anyone who knows thanks....

You would have to use a 3.8 2V intake since there is no 4v intake made for the 3.8s/4.2s.

There is a hole for the cam position sensor which replaces the distributor but finding a dist to work would be a challenge.

The EEC stuff is much more durable than you give it credit for.
