Question Programmer for V6?

The newest issue of Sport Truck says there is a programmer for the V6 - anyone have one? I haven't seen one for this engine yet - but if someone has one I'd like to "rent" it if anyone is in my area.....

I've noticed my truck runs better when the computer is reset. This kind of worries me, but I think the programmer would help this......

RWillieK,

Have you put any thought into getting a chip?

Exclamation

I'd be interested in doing my own programming too. My dad's an X-powertrain calibrator and he could show me the ways. I can always pester a few people @ ford, that I know.

yeah - cost is a little detering though - I would like a two stage chip...but a programmer is an easier way of doing it - I'll look into it though....

Any info on this? Who makes it? Where to get it? Is there a web site?

A complete engine management system is $3600, so I assume a chip burner and software will be less than that.

I was talking about a programmer not an engine management system and chip burner.....

I looked around at chips - they are far out of reach for me at this time too - I guess I'll have to stick to what I've got for now.....I think I'm going with the poboy fipk today........

We got like 5" of snow - so I may or maynot be doing anything to the truck today

As far as programmers go, you can't "rent" one because of the way they work. You program your truck to run the way you want when you buy it, and the programmer takes that program and uploads it to your truck, and downloads your old stock program back into it's memory. That way you can't reprogram numerous trucks/cars with them.

if you can't program multiple vehicles with a programmer, how do the performance-chip places do it?

If you download a calibration from the car computer into the programming computing, why can't the programming computer save the calibrations?

I went with the poboy FIPL (what does that stand for anyway?) this weekend - worked out pretty well - easy, yet effective!

here are some pics

Anyone else have any small things like this that has helped out?! I'm looking for small mods that make a difference!

Corpsie's got some interesting questions.

As far as I'm concerned, if it's a computer then you can do anything with it. Your only limitations are legal issues and/or ethical issues..

there really aren't any legal issues. You're just going to be changing some numbers.

I need to get my paws on some $$ and get one of those engine management kits. I'll show those V8 snobs what's up
