When I first got my 97 I would also get a "pop" through the speakers, but only on cold mornings when I would first start it up. Anway, I put an Alpine CD player in the other day and I haven't noticed it anymore. Actually, it hasn't been that cold here lately. But, you're not alone with the popping speaker noise.

1997 4.2 V-6. Just over 154,300 here. Replaced the intake manifold runner control(IMRC) at 121,000. Per my Ford mechanic, this is the air handler side of the fuel injection system. The part is designed to last between 100-150,000 miles. I paid $700 for the repair($250 for the part alone.) I plan on getting rid of the truck before I have to replace it again. Otherwise the engine just runs. No oil leaks. No burning oil. I have used Prolong in the engine since 77,000 miles.

What maintenance items have you dealt with so far on that 164,000 mile f150?
Alternator?
Statrer?
Water Pump?
Anything?
What transmission are you running?
If it's a manual, have you replaced the clutch yet?

Thought I'd give an update on my truck. Fixing to turn 31K, have yet to take it back to the shop for ANYTHING!! Best vehicle I've ever owned, still tight as day 1.

I plan on destroying mine before 100K, which is why I'll be purchasing the most comprehensive extended warranty I can find. I really love my truck. I spare no expense in maintaining it, but I drive it HARD. I'm always on the gas. Sometimes I feel bad about it, but then I realize that this is how I drive, and I'll eventually pay the price. I plan to sell this truck as soon as I can't keep a warranty on it. If the resale is really low, or it is still running strong, I might keep it around for a while after.

Over the course of a few years I essentially rebuilt my Bronco as things broke. The only original parts are the transmission and transfer case. I broke or wore out everything else. I do not want to go thru the same thing with this F-150 once it's out of warranty.

I'm actually going to look at 03's next week. It the money is right and I can find a truck just like my 01 I might trade it in and get a new one now. I'm really not looking forward to the 04's with no v6 and a suck **** automatic transmission.

I THINK I HAVE GOT EVERYONE BEAT!! I dont know if thats a good thing or a sign i need a new motor!! MY 97 4.2L is running strong with 197,452 miles on it. The check engine light has just recently come on stating that my #1 injectors are clogged, minor fix. Im hoping to get anoher 20,000 out of the engine before i need to replace it. I hope that there is someone out there that can top my milage, it will make me feel a bit better.

Just an F.Y.I: My truck is 2wd with a fabtech 7" lift kit and 35" tires on it. So my truck pulls a load with those tires everyday. It's still running strong!!!

OK, I looked at the numbers, I think I'm going to try and get a new truck. There is some pretty good factory money behind them right now. The only truck on the lot that I liked was Silver, but it had the split seats, not the buckets like mine has. I wonder if they'd let me swap...

Ummm, 296,000 km equals about 185,000 miles. I think wakechik24 still has you beat.

My V6 has 43 miles...I picked it up from the dealer today
