2008 stuck starter

Since it's gotten cold my starter is sticking in the morning. After I drive the truck the starter is fine. I don't drive the truck regularly. Is there something I can clean or lube? Or is it time for another starter. It's a v6 auto 2wd if that matters. Thanks, Joe

Starter is sticking - 2008 f150

Since it's gotten cold my starter sticks. I have to turn off and then it starts normally. After that it starts normally even after a couple of hours. I don't drive this truck daily. Is there something that could be cleaned or lubed? Or is it time for a new starter? 2wd, v6 auto, 83k miles. Thanks, Joe.

Please define "sticking". Does the starter turn and the engine does not and you have to turn the key to start several times before the engine will crank OR does the the starter keep turning with the engine after the engine starts?

Engine starts and the starter stays engaged with the engine running. Have to turn the key off then It starts normally.

You could rebuild the starter yourself, or new complete starter.

Just to update. Today was relatively warm out and the truck started without any issues. I'm thinking that moisture is getting in somewhere and freezing. Any thoughts?

Looking for cheap fix if possible. Also to update. Today was warm out and the truck started fine. I'm thinking moisture is getting in somewhere and freezing, as this problem only happens when it's below freezing.

The starter is still cranking after releasing key and the engine is running.

Could be starter, solenoid, or even the ignition switch

Need further diagnosis prior to swapping parts
