Engine Block Heaters

hey all

my 2013 ecoboost has a block heater from the factory. it is below zero now so I thought I'd try it out...(even though it is in my garage).

the block heater pulls 430 watts when you first plug it in, and after a couple hours it drops to about 380 watts (on my meter).

my last truck was 650 to 700 watts, anyone have any issues with the block heater not noticably warming up the engine (or shortening idle time to warm up) on the ecoboost?

I'm about to go run errands and will see how fast it warms up.

just wondering.

I know this is a bit off topic, but I installed Wolverine heater pads on my battery and oil pan and it makes a big difference. If you don't feel it adequate, one of the oil pan heater would probably make a difference.
