oil capacity

Manual lists oil capacity at 6 qts. When I did my first oil change it appeared that 6 qts leaves things about a half a quart down.

Is the correct data 6 1/2 qts with a filter change and the owner's manual is wrong, or do I have an incorrect dip stick?

Technically, it's 6.2L, i don't know what the translation is to quarts. Just be thankful it's not the 7.2L powerstroke, that takes a whopping 13.5L

I put 6.5 quarts in mine when I changed as well

I had to use a little more than 6 quarts when I did my oil change. Glad that I used Amsoil. Now I don't have to worry about it for a year.

six quarts seems to put it right at the halfway point between the "low" and "full" lines on the dipstick.... i use 6.5 quarts too to make sure it is at the full line. it wont hurt you to run with just 6, but i like to have it full so that if there is a leak i'll have less of a chance of messing up the engine (there'll be more oil to leak out before the engine is starved)

I forgot to drain the oil in my truck one time and added an additioinal 6qts. That totals 12qts. of oil in my truck for 6k miles

...it still runs.
