Someone on this forum mentioned that after his F-150 got to around 15,000 miles he didn't smell an odor coming from the AC vents any longer. I am glad to say that now mine has 19,000 miles on it and the odor I complained about is barely noticable. Probably some plastic part that had to wear in. Who knows but am glad it's gone.

F150 Eco Boost Smell with AC on Recirc

My truck has 21K miles on it (1 year old) with the exact same issue. It is definitely more of an ether smell when the A/C is on recirc.

2 things happen under hard acceleration : the a/c compressor stops momentarily and the turbo spools up and gets very hot. Could be related to either. The turbo can make an odor from getting so hot and that could be coming inside the cabin somehow .

Well we have 37,000 miles on our truck now and occasionally we still get a slight odor when AC is on recirc. We have plugged all the vents coming into the cab, put peppermint oil in the engine compartment along the firewall and no peppermint odor came into the cab during that test.
That was one the Ford Dealers ideas to isolate the problem, so it's not coming in through the firewall. The dealer tested Co2 and it was negative.
We have accepted the fact that occasionally we will smell a slight odor and that's life, End of my story.

Is there a "boost" guage on the instrument panel? It could have a leak but it would be just outside air being boosted and shouldn't smell bad.

No, there isn't a boost gauge.

1. AC on MAX - Recirc, we smell the odor the most
2. AC on Recirc or Fresh , no odor

Per Dealer the PCV valve hose was not connected to the engine by the factory, but after it was connected the odor is still present

Any Ideas

It will take a while for the smell to go away. the oil has to evaporate out.
You could have the engine cleaned to speed up the process.

Would like to know for sure too!
Your smell is coming from the plastic turbo tubes, when they get hot the plastic cures and the aromatics will leave the plastic. Use the turbos more and they will cure faster and the smell will go away.

cabin odor

I am also experiencing an aweful odor which is coming into the cab through the a/c vents. It is worse under hard exceleration (higher rpm) however there always seems to be a slight odor. I am sure this is exhaust related. So, that can't be good to inhale since having headaches and upset stomach symptoms. Apparently this is not an isolated problem.

Welcome to the forum, rcsd58. Have you brought your truck to the dealer so they can check out the odor? How many miles are on your truck currently? I'm here to help.

Come back and tell us what the dealer finds, rcsd58. Once they've taken a look, I'll be able to jump in and assist.
