Sounds like the lower intake gaskets are leaking.

CHANGE YOUR INTAKE GASKETS IMMEDIATELY! If you fail to do so, expect your engine to hydrolock in the near future as the antifreeze will eventually find its way into your cylinders.

And intake gasket can be changed by yourself for less that $40 and a few hours on a Saturday.

Intake Plenum Gasket Set (listed under "Fuel/Air" section) - FEL-PRO Part # MS94452 Overhead Valve Engine; Plenum Gasket Set; Upper set $31.79

It doesn't matter.Every now and then one slips thru the cracks. My friend has a 97 E250 with the 4.2.His hydrolocked.Ford installed a new reman engine.11K miles later the lower intake gaskets started leaking at #4 cylinder.Ford installed new lowers and its been fine since.
If it were mine ide install the new revised Ford gaskets.Fel-Pro is a good gasket company but in this case Ford gaskets are better.

The 4.2 has a bunch of coolant lines running across the top of it. Before you go and tear off the intake manifolds, make sure none of these are leaking. Look especially at the metal "Y" tubing (heater outlet hose) which comes off the top of the waterpump. The small tubes on each end of the "Y" are known to corrode/break.

Pics from my timing cover gasket replacement how to, which show the heater outlet hose ...
