Ecoboost Owners Reports
I just got my ecoboost a few days ago and always see around 12.6mpg on the display. Haven't been on the freeway yet. Mine came with 3.55 gears. Do you normally get better mileage with 3.55 gear or 3.73 gears? I assume you get better takeoff with the higher gears and lower rpms cruising with the lower gears? Absolutely love the truck so far.
On a side point my parents ordered a VW Toureg in September last year and they would have just gotten it this month (7 months). But now with Allied not hauling certain manufacturers it is sitting somewhere in Canada and not moving. So now they cancelled the VW and bought a Porsche.
Love seeing these posts. I'm guessing these numbers are with non ethanol gas all I can get is E90 (10% ethanol) and I think it really affects mileage. In my '05 I'm lucky to get 14mpg on highway at 60mph. Not good. I'm sure the big tires dont help i.
By mistake I ran E90 in my old '03 Escape when I was down in NYC, and it kept cutting out on me everyone once and a while... and it wouldn't start for like 5 minutes too. Almost like my fuel rail was getting vapor locked.
It will run in an engine... but if your vehicle isn't Flex-fuel rated, it will make your standard engine run horrible and very unreliable.
Ordered My 11" Ecoboost from a dealer in TX Friday and should be here this week. I drove one and was blown away. I ordered the Platinum White Lariat with Black interior. Glad to be back in the F150 Crew!
I will be driving all over the State for my job so I will update with my MPG.

Just got back from the mother of all 280 mile trips for highway mileage at 75 mph. Those that know, Phoenix to Flagstaff and back has a huge altitude change on par with any in the US. In cruise most of the way, never going over posted speed limits (either 65 or 75 depending on the hill), I clocked in a solid 17.8 mpg roundtrip with some side trips in 35mph town all with less than 500 miles on the Odometer. I'll take that for a virgin not-broken-in FX4 Screw with 3.73's. I know it will only get better with time
The one time I did have to pass a Semi uphill in earnest and put my foot down- 60-90 happened in the blink of an eye, felt like pulling a parachute out to slow my new baby down. SOLID if you ask me

Everything here is 10% corn syrup. Only a couple of places sell non-ethanol gas.
tried a half tank of 93 but didn't notice that much difference. that was when I first got the truck when the prices were bad but not as bad as now.
And I think I was babying the truck to see how much MPG I could get. now just driving it normal since I have around 1000 miles on it All I know is it is better MPG than my 5.4 was. If I wanted great mileage I would of kept my Flex. Was a great car just not a truck and I like being able to haul and tow more

Son of a ! I ordered mine on the 28th, and my sales guy said he would give me updates along and along all the time. He said that I would need a dedicated spot for him in my email inbox. I haven't heard anything as of yet..but I can only hope that my build date will be around the 18th as well.
Mileage
I went out tonight with my 3.15 ratio EB and did some more break-in; now have just over 200 miles on it. One thing I've found is that at least at this point in the break-in period, speed makes a big difference in mileage. At 75 mph the instantaneous reading was about 18; after resetting the speed to 65 and doing a reset of the mpg measurement, the instantaneous reading was 26.5! I did this several times back and forth and the numbers were very consistent and repeatable.
This sorta makes some sense though, since the energy needed to propel a vehicle through the air is roughly proportional to the cube of the speed; that is, speed x speed x speed. The cube of 75 is about 50% more than the cube of 65, meaning all other things being equal, it will take about 50% more fuel to push the truck at 75 mph than it requires at 65 mph.
(Note that the same thing applies in reverse too
-- a 75 mph hurricane will push against the blades on a wind turbine, the side of your house, etc. with about 50% more energy than a 65 mph gale.)
What I really like about the fuel economy display on this F-150 is how easy it makes it to try these things out and see the results.

I agree, this has also helped me be a more fuel efficient driver.
I've had mine for a day now and I've put almost 200 miles on it. It is a Black, Scab Lariat, w/ the max tow (3.73 LS rear end) and the standard 18" rims. I can't begin to say enough good things about it. It is the best of both worlds in every way. My town MPG is low but I live in a small town so it's a stop sign every 3-4 blocks and pretty hilly. I've been pounding the crap out of it and it's around 14-15 MPG. That sounds low but you'd understand if you rode with me. 17-18 would be no trouble if I tried for it.
It's getting better economy already now that I'm over 200 miles. Yesterday I was almost 19 MPG and today same road, wind in the same direction, same speed with no one in front of me I was almost 22MPG
