Ya but its still pretty new in the sense of the technology. THAT engine is still quite new. I just hold off a bit because there is a LOT that can potentially go wrong with those things with the twin turbo set up and all associated with it. Even the slightest change to a proven system can wreak havoc in the long run and it may not be found out for 10s of thousands of miles or more.

Did you guys see when the EB hooked to that log and the log crammed into the ground. The EB just started spinning,- all fours ? - THEN they cut the video damnit! I wanted to see it get out of that one. The way they had the log chained could have ripped that truck apart lol, -I mean the way the driver was taking off. All that had to happen, with the log digging in like that, is for it to catch a good root going horizontal. That would of been nasty @ high speed, and done for lol.

Ok. I'm going to be the first to ask. what does anyone think it will take to put the 3.7l Ecoboost in a 90 model f150. I imagine it would take putting the 6R80 in along with it and having to use all of the computer wizardry as well. maybe I should just wake up a quit dreaming! LOL

I will be the first to say just save the hassle and money and just buy a new F150 with the EB

Not trying to pick on you, but the 3.7 is N/A - the EB is a 3.5.

A 3.7L swap would still be pretty neat.

I'd rather have a Ranger with the old Taurus SHO V6 in it. That motor was a screamer.

I 'd have to go with the Raptor, - It's more my style, - well to have fun with anyway. Something about a that big V8 growl. Thro a nice blower on that 6.2 and it would be a blast.

I'm do for new truck, - it's just this 98 is lasting forever and I still like driving it lol.

I thought I heard somewhere they were talking about making the ecoboost an option in the Raptor....

I would love to have The Raptor with the 6.2 in it. But Im afraid that when it comes time to replace my current truck, I wont be able to talk myself into buying one since I plan on getting a camp trailer to two with my F150 and the Raptor isn't setup the best for towing.

Oops on the 3.7 and 3.5 EB mixup. I guess I'm a little excited over the new engine choices for f150. From everything I've seen so far, I have to ask myself. Is there a more capable, technologically advanced, pickup out there? Hmmm..... NOPE!!!!!

BTW. I think ford did put a few SHO motors in rangers. From the outside I looked exactly like a ranger gt. And they put a gaudy roll bar in the bed. The one I've seen was at a show in socal.

Ford only built one prototype Ranger with the SHO motor. There was an article about it in (I think) Autoweek in 1990 or so. All the rest you see have been conversions. From what I can find out, the heater and A/C has to be deleted, there's no room left under the hood for the box. The DOHC heads and the intake manifold make the engine considerably wider than the stock 3.slow or the 4.0 pushrod motor.

The 3.7 is already a HIGH stressed engine. It's not going to take to any EcoBoosting and live long. Some of the fuel additive folks are also running tests on the EcoBoost and the reports are not good. Seems that it generates a lot of carbon deposits on the valves and the intake. We've already seen what seems like too many failures due to carbon deposits on the TB on the non EB 3.5's. Before you run out and buy one, I'd give it some time to make a mechanical history. Like they say, if it looks too good to be true...

Interesting. I have a question - how are those carbon deposits getting in the throttle body, intake, and valves? Usually (as I understand it) carbon there is from either fuel, or oil from an oiled filter (like the K&N). The Eco-Boost is DI - there is no fuel anywhere in the intake. Where is that carbon coming from?
