Dusted a Z-71 tonight!
Yeah that's right, I'm bad. Or actually the truck is. lol. Pulled up to a light close to home tonight and a black 99-2001 Extra CAb Z-71 was already sitting. In about 1000 feet the 4 lane road narrows into 2 so you know what's about to happen! I couldn't time the light right so I have to come to a complete stop and wait. Light turns green and he hammers it. I get my finger out of my rear end and hammer mine but I made the mistake of short shifting into second before I realize he wants to go.
He gets a full truck lentgth on me as I look down and see 5000 rpms so its time to shift. Hit 3rd about 60 and to my surprise I'm gaining on him rapidly! As I go by I give him the military salute. Can't see him because of his tinted windows. Look down and I'm doing 85 and coming up on a corner REALLY fast and tap the brakes and realize that mine can handle the corner no problem. After we come out of the corner he's about 20 lengths behind me as it narrows to 2 lanes.
But anyways, thats my first kill in along time. Would've been alot closer if not for the Superchip. Don't know if he had the 4.8 or 5.3 V8 in his but it was definatley a V8.

Hey frank s do you think you can post a pic of your truck. that sounds like an excellent kill. i love it when i get those. i gotta get a chip but i am affraid i will speed too much and our city just got 6 motorcycle cops that are all over the place. well nice to hear you got a good kill.
I went and test drove a z71 the other day, I was looking into getting a 4x4 and I just had to try it out. Well, If I'm not mistaken, 99.9% of Z's came with the 5.3 engine. I have a v6 as well, and when I drove the Z, it felt like such a dog, I couldn't believe it! I thought for sure my v6 could take it out no problem. I'm glad to see that it really is the case and I wasn't imagining things. Way to go!

Sorry hotshot, I don't have a pic to post yet. Mine's white and hope to be putting some clear corners in as soon as I get them from the f150online store. All I can say is I couldn't believe it when I started gaining on his truck! They'd better really look out when I get the supercharger kit later this year!
I don't see how a regular cab 4.8 Chevy can beat a 4.6 Ford. The Chevy's seem to be down on power somewhere to be losing races with a comparable truck and engine. That guy would crap a brick if he knew he got beat by a SCREAMIN' SIX! lol
