Question 6 or 7 quarts?

just bought a used 2000 F-150 black extcab, shortbed/stepside 4.2 with 10k miles. when i took it in for a oil change they told me the dip stick is full @7 quarts. is this correct? i thought 6 quarts is what the manual says. i haven't talked to ford yet. i bought a k&n replacement air filter & had a flowmaster 50 series/delta installed. (sounds great) gas mileage is 23hwy, 16-18 city. great truck!
