Post Upper intake replacement

The upper intake in this pic fits our lower intake(which is pictured beside it). For only 199.99 you get an upper intake that will probably solve the problem of the 3.8 vortech supercharger tube direction. Plus you get ported and polished upper intake.

Sound right?

Nevermind on the above post. Mike Y. of supersix gave me this info.

"Just talked to Vortech, asked about 99-01 3.8 and 97 up 4.2 supercharger kits. The 99-01 is a done deal, development is finished, awaiting kit production start. The outlook is different on the 97 up 4.2 F-150. Vortech knows they are basically similar engines, with a few subtle differences between them. So, they're not developing a kit for the 4.2 F-150, but enterprising types can convert and adapt the kits for the 3.8 with minimal modifications."

Is this a 99-00 3.8 intake? If it is no dice( I think) vortech s/c for 94-98 3.8 need their intake-there is also an additional mounting problem. Our accessory brackets(alternator, etc.) are different than the 3.8.The vortech kit somehow mounts using one of the brackets.I am kinda confused myself.Read the "isn't this great guys" thread. If someone puts a mustang intake on would he/she then have to use their airbox/filter and location?I am asking this because I wanna be sure it will work without a major headache relocating the airbox.I know it sound lame-after all the motor is gonna get partway taken apart.

I agree. it wwuld be soooooo much easier. At any rate, I think I may go bug the local dealership and take a look at a 99-00 3.8 v6 mustang.I want to know for sure where their airbox is.
I am about to sound not so mechanically inclined but bear with me.Where does the throttle body tie into all of this mess?I am getting frustrated.

Ok we need to figure this out. Is it easier
to modify the 3.8 kit to fit ours or easier to swap the intake and then modify the bracket? Shouldn't you be ble to hook up all the 3.8 stuff on the front of the 4.2?
I'm planning on switching to dual electric fans anyway.

Also who here has the know-how to do this?
Any pics of the brackets? sounds like we need a shot of the two motors side by side the brackets on the 3.8 and what would work on the 4.2

3.8 engine bay...

So if you go with the mustang upper you could make your own cold air induction system w/ the MAF and air filter. The intake plumbing can be run to any location. This is on a N/A setup.

Gaston- the administrator at v6power.com, and JeffA have done the opposite- they took a 4.2L upper and put it in the stang. Then got a straight discharge Vortech blower to run with just a elbow into the 4.2 intake.

But then again you guys have the mounting issue again... it just takes a creative mind to see if it will work. The plumbing from the blower to the intake is small stuff to worry about. The mounting itself is the major problem.

Thanks for posting the pics. Is that one bracket all that holds the blower on?Who could make a belt the custom length needed after the blower is installed on a custom bracket?Need to have all details in order before even seriously thinking about modifying the 3.8 s/c to a 4.2.

I have no doubts that it can be done.It is just a matter of the mounting bracket issue.I don't know about the others in here but I am having a hard time considering spending 2k on something that I will have to adapt to fit my truck.

Good Job Steve C.

SO basically were no better off than where we started. It's still gonna involve a lot of fabrication or money or both o pull it off. %^*%^&%^%*&(&*($%^$#%$#

I guess I need to tell the Junkyard guy to start looking for me a 5.4 and manual tranny from a SD.
