Arrow HELP PLEASE

hey fellas,
i need a link to the page or pages that show the coolant leak recall.. I just recently bought a Ford F159 V6 4.2 XLT and I have a small coolant leak similar to the one mentioned here about the recall. The dealership is Lincoln-Mercury and I can already tell I'm gonna have to fight these guys tooth and nail for this fix.. they are talking about a timing case/cover leak and I do not want to pay for something that is a recall (this dealership would charge me in a heartbeat for this) so any help would be appreciated.

thanks,
Pat

p.s.(the recall section here at f150online did'nt appear to say anything about coolant/timing case/cover recall)

Cool

My notice dated January 2000 reads:

"Ford Motor Company is providing a no-charge Service Program, Number 99B29, to owners of certain 1996 and 1997 model year Mustang, Thunderbird, Cougar, and 1997 F-Series vehicles equipped with 3.8L or 4.2L engines.
What is the reason for the program? The affected vehicles may experience engine coolant leakes at the engine front cover gasket; this could cause severe engine damage if not corrected......

No Charge for Service: At no charge to you, your dealer will replace the engine front cover gasket with a redesigned gasket and change the engine oil and filter.....

Your vehicle is eligible for this program until March 31, 2001, regardless of mileage....."

It also says to take the letter with you for the service, but if you don't have it they will still do the work. And if you've already had the work done and paid for it they will issue refunds.

I'd be happy to fax you a copy of the letter if you'd like.

you can e-mail me at Pjohncpa@excite.com

I truly apprecaite that offer, I was sure I would need it and I fortunatly was well informed of this "recall" or "program" as the dealership called it..
when i showed up with my truck they could'nt find the leak after looking for bout a 1/2 hour... so the dealership was about to write it off until i suggested we let the truck sit, and wait til it starts.. sure enough it did (after 3 hours) and they will repair it for free..
If I had'nt said anything.. I'm sure they would have tried to get somethin off me (I'm having the pitman arm replaced because of some horrible squeaking when I turn ther wheel.. that was'nt covered) so.. 225 for a new pitman arm and a front gasket job...
not bad.. thanks for ther offer Dean!

anyone else wondering what's up with that little leak.. go get it fixed.. it's on Ford
