i have a K&N CAI and just got a VMP tuned SCT 2 months ago and love them both. K&N is off of my 04 heritage, had to rig it to work. K&N does not make an intake for 06+ 4.2L trucks.

Not that I've done it yet, but an aftermarket exhaust (at least a muffler)will do you wonders. Your OEM muffler is highly restrictive.

Aftermarket muffler didn't help the power or the gas mileage - it just made it so I can hear it running.

Get rid of that K&N airfilter if you don't want to oil foul the MAF.

@glc

While the muffler may not make a huge performance diffrence, all I was saying is that the OEM system is very restrictive. By placing a more open aftermarket unit on the truck you will be reducing back pressure. As a N/A engine this is a good thing.

Putting racing decals on the windows will make it look faster!

Wrong. I have one on my 2007. I believe k&n simply never updated their website. Nothing changed under the hood from 2005-2008.

I have almost every bold-on on my 2007 4.2 5 speed. The best one for fuel economy was removing that mechanical fan for an electric one (efan). Look into it. Exhaust didn't do a darn thing except for nicer sound. My custom dyno tune using an SCT Livewire gained me 25 hp to the rear wheels, which is incredible considering my base run was 146 hp. (Thats like an 18% increase in power).

If u plan on putting on larger tires (since you said u had a leveling kit), re-gearing will help bring back some lost power. But that does get expensive. And if you plan on buying after market rims, you'll need to install TPMS sensors on them if you don't want that "low tire pressure" light to come.

i figured they didnt update it but wasnt sure since the power output of the 4.2L changed in 06. changed from 202hp@4800 and 252Lb-Ft@3400 to
202hp@4350 and 260Lb-Ft@3750.

nothing "changed" in the engine. there are a number of things that can cause small fluctuations like that. it could have been a colder day or better made parts for that engine.

Sorry Dude. Wrong again. That only works on Honda. And only if you have tinted windows and a spoiler to give down-force on a front wheel drive car. I even tried on a Prius, and couldn't make that Toyota any faster.
