Are V-6 worth a superchip?
Pony? Did a truck with a superchip die infront of you on the entrance ramp really?!?!?!!? Well if that is so... screw it... I can't take that change... I don't want to die
I'll wait till they come out with the Supercharger! woohoo!

well, we just got off of the interstate to get onto another. we had to go through a light, so it died at a low speed.
obviously, everybody loves their superchip and this type of thing isn't an everyday deal. but people have commented that their chip has fallen off a time or two. some are a perfect fit while others are not.
mike,
i really wanted to get one of these chips, but I think I'll try the other. I've talked to a couple of people who have hypertechs and it doesn't sound like it's as bad as some of you say it is.
I won't get the chip until december unless i decide to pass on APC's legal clear tail lenses.

ponysix8,
Just wanted to let you know that I have personal experience with both Hypertech and Superchips, and I am a total Superchips convert from this point forward. I will never put another brand chip on any of my vehicles, unless something drastic happens and the company goes to total crap (which I highly doubt). The Superchip is a much better piece of hardware than the Hypertech and the JET (which I had on a Mustang GT at one time). I went from a Hypertech directly to a Superchip on my 4.2L and noticed a major improvement. I will admit that the Hypertechs secure themselves to the computer box much better than the Superchip does, but a little duct tape in an area of the truck that is not visible under normal circumstances is worth the better performance that you get from the Superchip.

No problems with mine. Best performance mod I've made by far to my V-6. Pony - was the problem that the chip was not taped in place as per the instructions, or was there something wrong w/ the chip?
Hey Pony,
Let me guess the HyperTech plugs into the service port right?? If it does screw it... I can do it.. cause of the jumper issue... I hate Ford
ehehe darn it... let me know okay

Hi Pony68,
You are more then welcome to buy whatever you like, that is always your option, certainly.
There has yet to be a post here from a user who has ever actually compared, on their own vehicle, the Superchip to either the Hypertech or the Jet unit that has preferred either the Hypertech or the Jet over the performance of the Superchip.
I have no doubt that there are satisfied owners of just about every brand out there, that's easy to find; but among those people who have actually *used* the different brands, and done a direct comparison between the Superchip and the Hypertech or Jet unit on the same vehicle, they always prefer the Superchip.
If either Hypertech or Jet had a better product, we'd be selling it, plain and simple. We don't care what the name on the outside is, all we care about are the actual results.
The bottom line here is that it's easy to say things, and even easier to make assumptions; but among those who have actually made a direct comparison on their vehicle, they always prefer the Superchip, and that is why we market them instead of the others, they simply work better.
Hypertech & Jet made completely "generic" chips, that are compromised to run on all similar vehicles; the Superchip in each case is made specifically for each individual vehicle's software revision from the factory, and that makes all the differecne in the world, getting a program that was made specifically for *your* vehicle. The Superchip is also the only one that adds power at *all* throttle positions, the others only add power on full-throttle.
What you choose to do is entirely up to you, and we wish you good luck with whatever you decide!

Just had to jump in here and reply again. Mike Troyer is right, the Hypertech and Jet are only good at WOT and even then aren't as good as the Superchip.
Headless,
Yes, the Hypertech plugs into the service port just as the Superchip does. The only advantage that Hypertech ships has, as stated in my earlier post, is that it has a clamp that screws down and secures itself to the computer box.

okay looks like I'm going to have to beat the crap out of my computer ripe the cover over and soder those to jumpers myself, no way around it... argh! Hey look at this way if I break it... It'll only cost me $400 bucks to get a computer that problable has the jumper problem fixed
Headless,
Something that you may want to try first before taking a soldering gun to your computer is to try one of those silver conductive pens. You should be able to find them at your local electronic components store (maybe Radio Shack?). They are for correcting little errors on PCBs like this. It is basically like a small solder that you draw onto the unit to complete the circuit. I don't know if anyone else here has tried it and had successful results with it or not, but it would definitely be worth a try if you're nervous about soldering it the traditional way. Just a thought, hope it helps.
