Smile New Truck

Picked up my Y2K F150 on 6/22. Ordered 4/10, built 6/5 in Norfolk. 2WD SC XLT with CD player, Remote Keyless Entry, Rear Slider, Towing Package, 4.2L V6, 5-speed, 3.55LS, P255/70/R16, Harvest Gold. Payed $300 over invoice.

My previous ride was a 93 F150 4x4 with 300 six, 5 speed, and 3.08 gears. 103,000 trouble free miles.

I am very impressed with the ride, handling, comfort, power, and sound of the new truck. I think the engine & drive train combination offers very impressive performance and value.

Cool

Thanks for the warm welcome gentlemen.
I've been reading the board ever since I ordered my new truck. The wait was painfully long - dealer said "6 weeks" when I ordered. It took 72 days, but who's counting?

This is my 5th new ford. 83 Ranger, 86 Ranger, 89 Bronco II, 93 F-150, 2000 F-150. All manual transmissions. Never had a major problem with any of them. I know a lot of folks complain about the 5-speed. My personnel opinon is that if that's what you truly want for a trans, you'll be satisfied. If you prefer automatics and settle for a stick, you'll find something to complain about. We must remember, that it's a truck and not a sports car. As far as towing capacity, I've towed a 5000 lb man-lift with my 93 F-150. No problem. Go easy on the clutch and it will last for over 100K.

Welcome, Congrats; If your happy, it's worth the wait. I had to wait 9 months for my wifes Supra (long story), She was still happy and that's what counts.

Mdell2- invoice = "dealer invoice" = dealer cost. As compared to "MSRP" = manufacturers suggested retail price = sticker price.

Congratulations, Snurb. Welcome a-board!

Great choice of truck. And relatively guilt-free, too; it's the most fuel-efficient and environmentally friendly of the full-sized pick-ups.

You'll find you have a problem, though: Every time you park it and walk away, you'll feel this hidden force working on your neck, compelling you turn around to admire it. Just something you have to live with...

Black 2000 SC short-box XLT. 4.2V-6, 5-speed, 3.55 limited-slip. CD, remote entry, factory side steps, FORD box liner.

My third F-series: '73 F-100 Custom 240-cube 3-speed, '98 F-150 XL-SC 4.2 5-speed, and '00 F-150 XLT-SC 4.2 5-speed. GREAT trucks!

Hey shifter I know how you feel, mine is bright clearcoat red with 32 inch tires and stepside. I cant help but turn around when I park it and look at the chrome tips on the back and the bright red and say "da$% i got one sexy truck"

Congratulations on your new truck. I really like the gold trucks and how they glow on a sunny day.

Suggestion: get some touchup paint now while the paint color is still current. I hear the gold trucks have "softer" paint and tend to chip a little easier.
