Post axle ratio/mileage

I am about to replace my '97 SC 4x2 with a 2000. My '97 was a 4.2 w/manual and 3.08 axle. The new truck is the same except for a 3.55 axle. Anyone know the approximate effect this will have on gas mileage? Thanks.

What kind of mileage did you get before? I think you would only loose about 1 mpg on avg.

If you do mostly city driving, then your mileage could actually go up.

Thumbs up

I used to have a 98 with the 3.55 and I got between 15&17 mpg if I kept my foot out of it.Its kinda hard to do that though because the gearing sure helps the acceleration. You will probably find youself with the petal to the metal more.
