Post Can anyone beat this?

The frozen fish guy strikes again. Went from SF Bay Area to Holywood with an overload of fish and here is my report.

4.2l 4x2 SC 99 3.55 SB automatic
Glasstite Targa Cab High

1530 lbs worth of frozen fish in 50 boxes in the bed.

170 lb driver (me)
110 lb passenger

~50 lbs worth of other stuff

65 mph most of the way, 21.9 mpg.

Can anyone sense me smirking.

Good Guy

That is pretty good. I am about to make a trip in a 97 SB 4x2 Regular cab, I already have the K&N and the Flowmasters to help with the fuel milage and I plan on putting the tailgate down. Do you have any mods that I should know about like a chip?

Your story sounds a little fishy to me, haha but if you read my post above I believe I topped you. Pulled 25' 5th wheel with hitch weight of 1000# and total weight of 6000# to campsite about 100 miles distance through some good hills. Driver a good 200# and my passenger was my dog 27# with about 200# of coolers and camping gear in back of truck. Mileage though is not even close I got 12.7 mpg pulling that load and I swear you could watch the gas guage drop.

Waldo, I hear this Superchip is great for the V-6 offering increase in power and mileage if driven sanely. Personally, the only mods I have that claims better MPG's are a K&N filter and the Glasstite shell. I haven't done anything special. What would really give you great mileage is a long stretch of freeway and to keep RPM's at no more than 2000 (about 65 mph in OD) and some helium balloons attached to your right foot. As you can see from my experience, just the 95% freeway and a lightfoot, I can get 20+ mpg's even with the overloads.
