Finally, the AIRAID is out, but is this one better???
I'm happy the AirAid came out for the 4.2L!! I hope you can actually feel a difference with it on. Before I place an order on it though, I wanted to know if anyone here has heard of the intake system from Airforce One. They have a very nice Stainless Steal Intake also available and they claim it adds 18 H.P. whereas the AirAid I think only adds around 14 H.P. Let me know if you've heard anything about it.
Thanks, Alex T.

Dear F150Y2K,
I'm sorry that I cannot directly answeer your question, as we have not seen this AIr Force kit you mention, but I did want to give you some feedback regarding real horsepower numbers for airbox elimination kits.
I kinda/sorta question the potential for an 18 hp gain from that component on the 4.2 V-6 F-150, if it is another airbox elimination kit. Just to give you some feedback on this, on the dyno we have seen that either the Airaid or the K&N airbox elimination kits both yield virtually the same gains on the F-150's that both kits are available for. On the 4.6 F-150, that is a solid 12 hp., and on the 5.4 it's a solid 14 hp. We have not yet seen the results on the dyno from either of the airbox elimination kits for the 4.2 V-6, it's just too early yet. But having the numbers on the other F-150's, and numbers from numerous other vehicles that these same kits are made for, especially K&N's FIPK kits, I think those 14 & 18 hp. gain numbers may be a bit optimistic.
However, that being said, using an airbox elimination kit has consistently shown to be the #2 best bang-for-the-buck mod for these vehicles overall, in terms of actual power gained per dollar spent. Either the K&N FIPK kit or the Airaid work very well, and are money well spent in the search for more performance you can feel.
Good luck whatever you decide to do,

54regcab, the airforce thingy is nothing to be concerned about. It's just a bunch of hotdogs that like to play with jets and airplanes. :-)

The AirForce thingy is posted in an ad in the May 2000 Vol 26, No.5 issue of Truckin' magazine. It's on page 194. It's manufactured by Forbes Custom Mfg. The name of the place that sells the Airforce One is SUV Specialties and they're in Redondo Beach, CA. I apoligize for not saying that the 18 HP gain I think was given to me based on the results off the 4.6L and 5.2L engines.
