I wouldn't do this if I where you, I think V6 doesn't sound good with what you would find on V8 aftermarket setups. I've heard from around here that a Flowmaster single in double out setup is good. I think? I'm sure they will post something.

I had a problem. i went to a muffler place and they said they could put it no problem and another place said on F-150 you couldnt put true dual on it because the O2 sensor is on the Y- pipe? which one is true

JCWhitney sells conversion kits for true duel setups.Including 2 O2 sensors. And any mufflershop that knows what they are doing can convert it for you. they may have local or state laws if not the federal laws governing adding/replacing your cat which might have been closer to the truth. But a V6 with a 40 series flowmaster and 4 inch dia tips (15 inches long with a 45deg cut) doesnt sound like a V8 but it doenst sound bad either.

I installed a Dynomax "Super Turbo" 2-1/2 in/out single on the Ford last weekend. It was one of the longest case mufflers that they carry in the oval shape. (#17688) Came w/2 hangers which I ground off and salvaged to mount the new muffler in the stocker location. Nice deep throaty sound, not annoying at all inside the cab, and very mature sounding outside. Would suggest it to anyone @ $54.00 delivered from Summit. j.b.

Does anyone have a sound clip of a Flowmaster or Dynomax on the V6? I would really like to hear what it sounds like before I mess with my truck because its only two weeks old. TIA

Wes

bomber,
click on the link in my sig to have a listen to glasspack on v6. it doesn't sound as bad as that sound file makes it out to be, but still, its not the greatest thing. after my next paycheck in about 3 weeks I'm getting a dynomax superturbo single in/dual out muffler to replace it.

Ponysix8 thanks for the sound clip of your glass pack! I'm sure all readers of this column appreciate it, including me.

Snow white can you post a clip of your flowmaster 40? I would love to hear your truck!

Unlike Ponysix, I went the other direction and got a flowmaster 40 series single in dual out. It sound pretty good and I elceted to go with the muffler instead of glasspacks because it will last longer. Not to mention the fact that I can now proudly display a flow master decal on my rear window.
