V6 is running rough and running out of water

My v6 overheated on Friday.....filled it with water and it stayed normal. All of a sudden while at a stop sign or just stopped in general, the engine is running rough....it lags a little when I give it gas to go, then it runs fine, until i stop again. it also ran hot about a month ago.....put water in it and it was fine.....only thing diff now is the running rough. help please

What year is it, please? If it's a 97 or a 98 with an engine build date before 1/16/98, you probably have bad intake manifold and front cover gaskets, and if you keep driving it, you will hydrolock the engine.

i thought they fixed that issue for the 98 year ? but anyways sounds like a leaking intake manifold gasket makeing his water disapear and run hot.

The engine build date is on a sticker on the driver's side valve cover.

New guy here, Will enjoy reading this forum.

I have a 97 V6 F-150. Always lost coolant in that thing. Around 75K miles got a miss in the number one cylinder. Long story short, YES! had to replace the engine. $4,ooo fix if you can't do it yourself.
