Can you even get the 5.4l in 2wd reg cab short bed?

I don't think you can... but I'd say you should've went for the big one.

The more I think about it, you can only get the 5.4l in 4wd reg cab short bed... could be wrong.

My favorite trucks are the reg cab, short bed, flairside bed... looks more sporty.

I'm pretty sure you can. Most dealer probably do not have that configuration on their lot though.

The 4.6 in a reg cab has a good amount of power. A friend of mine has an '08 reg cab short box stx with the 4.6 and it seems perfect.

Here is to give you an idea:
Stock 5 Speed V6 F150 vs. F150 4.6 (auto) with only exhaust, from 45. Both regular short beds.

Thats what I have, and it has the tow package with all of the power equipment, paid $16,900 for it with 9k miles. I traded in my '99 single cab V6 XLT auto for it, I wouldn't go back even if its just for the way the engine sounds.

The 4.6Ls small lead of power is offset by the driveline's loss of the automatic, thats a pretty good race

Agreed. I miss my 97' F150 with the 5spd at times. Wish I could have found the same optioned truck I have now with the 5spd when I was looking. Other then the lack of towing specs, that 97' was a fun truck to drive, for what it was.

Getting a new vehicle is always so annoying. Now I've come across an '08 reg cab 4x4 with 10k miles. While I'm all over the place, I do spend a little time hear and there in the Northeast. Prior to having this F150, I had an '08 GMC Canyon 2.9L 4x4. I could drive though anything. While I do what a brand new truck, having 4 wheel drive would be nice.

Every time I think I've found what I want, I spot something else. I'll let you guys know what I end up going with. Either way, I'll be an F150. I really don't like any other trucks that much.

Just venting.

Nothing wrong with venting and changing your mind. From seeing your posts, it looks like you travel. But since you say you spend time in the NE, then I would definitely get the 4x4. Some day when I get a new truck it will definitely have 4x4. When I bought my truck in 02' it was either the scab or 4x4 with the options I wanted, couldn't afford both at 22 years old. I've made much better use of the scab in 8+ years, so I don't regret it, but the next one will have 4x4.

I remember back when you bought yours, it was about the same time I bought my identical 08'. Only difference mine was dark red. I had a few probs but not as many as you suffered. I mainly bought it cause they were selling them dirt cheap but it just never really grew on me, especially with the problems I was having with it.

That is one hell of an offer! I tried to dump mine back if february and I was down to $10,500 and couldnt get a single bite. Thats when I came across an OBS like I was looking for and actually traded mine in for $11,500. I still like the NBS but I am very happy with my find. Just much happier with the V8, plus I really needed the supercab for my little boy. Im certainly not baggin on the V6 trucks by any means. They are good engines, it was just personal preference.

Good luck with whatever you decide to go with!

Went with a 2008 XL 4.6 V8, 4x4 with 9k miles for $13,488.00. Reg cab, long bed, Oxford white, chrome bumpers, tow package, cruise control (excited for that!) etc. Just put down a deposit to hold the truck. Picking it up as soon as I can.

All it needs is new wheels, grille and upper bumper and it'll look like an XLT.

I was just thinking: "this is why you never put your screen name as your truck because when you switch, it never matches"

you just happen to switch to a same year and packaged truck as your old one! you tricky bastard
