Radiator replacement procedure question

I need to replace my radiator soon, and was reading over the Haynes manual. They say to remove the fan. After looking the situatuin over, I don't see why I can't just push the shroud back over the fan. Looks like enough clearance to pull the radiator up & out. Anyone know if this would work? Just don't see the need to pull out the fan & shroud. Thanks.

I don't think you need to remove the fan either. Maybe a ford tec can get on here and let you know for sure. I will be replacing my radiator this weekend with a high performance one so I will let you know how the change on the 5.4 goes.

Also, I am not sure about the fitment but I have a radiator from a 5.4 if you need one. Only 15K miles on it. Make me an offer if you are interested. esp.stolz@gmail.com

I've pulled the rad twice and have never had to remove the fan, just unbolt the shroud and let it hang from the fan. The rad pulls straight up.
