On my 97 F150 4.2 one of the intake manifold runner solenoid is cracked and broken and i need to replace it.
My question is what is involved in the remove and replace. I removed the plenum but look to me i will be unable to remove the runner solenoid.
Does anybody has replaced it,,Do i need to remove the intake manifold?
Thanks

It would be a good idea to remove the manifold anyway, and replace the upper and lower gaskets and front cover gasket. Those were weak in the 97 and early 98 4.2's, and when they go you get coolant into the cylinders often resulting in a hydrolock. Get the improved gasket set from Ford, not a parts store.
Well this is a new engine that just got replaced a week ago and all the gaskets are new but when it was installed the imrs was broken.
I now removed the broken imr bolts but im unable to remove the clip that hold the rod.
You said its a good idea to remove the manifold? Have you replaced the imr before?
Thanks

No, I haven't - I was just noting that you may have an engine with the weak gaskets and figured it would be a good idea to pull it while you were in there.
If the installer broke it, I would think it would be his responsibility to fix it.
