20k maintenance??
20k maintenance??
I'm at about 18.5k miles on my '08 right now. Gotta drive back up the east coast in a couple weeks and will be around 20k at that point. What are some things I can do?
Fuel filter?
Air filter?
Anything else?
I change the oil and rotate the tires every 3k so I don't need to include that.
Thanks in advance, guys.

There is no recommended change interval for the PCV valve, they hardly ever go bad these days. I have the original in mine with 117k.
Air and fuel filters aren't a bad idea if you haven't done them yet.

well the air filter being changed depends on where you drive too. if you never go on dirt roads and dont have salt on the roads from winter time or dont live near beaches where wind can kick stuff up, your filter will last longer. it is recommended to be changed at around 12k but just check it. if it looks clean on both sides, keep using it, just check it every time you change your oil. but i would say if you still have the first one in, you SHOULD change it. i went on dirt roads with my 97 ranger i had and changed the filter more often than 12k. at about 4k it was dirty. and on my 08 f150 i have an open filtered CAI and it sucks in a lot of dirt too. i had to clean it twice last summer but i went thru a lot of dusty construction zones.
also i have never changed a fuel filter. never had a vehicle more than 2 years and never added more than 20k to any of them except the one i have now. my 08 f150 i have had for about a year and a half and have 23k on it. i dont have any signs of the fuel filter getting dirty yet tho. only vehicle i bought a new filter for was my 97 ranger because it was missing maybe like once per mile, but before installing it i found out it was one of the secondary spark plugs that was making it miss. got the plugs changed and it was fine. i actually still have the filter in the package in the garage.
I'll have 15K this summer. I think I'll change the air/oil filter and flush the trans. My plan it to change the trans fluid at 2 yrs, then again at 4 yrs, then never again, and I drive about 7k a year.

As far as the fuel filter, the manual says that, that is at the 30k mant. I only know that cause I just hit 30 and ordered one. Unless, Ford decided to change it from 07 to 08, but I can't see why.... Then again it's cheap enough, so if it makes you happy to do it earlier go for it!
here in pennsylvania we have an annual state inspection for every registered vehicle that will be driven. once inspection date is passed you cant drive it unless you are getting it fixed for inspection or driving to get it inspected. they check half that stuff. they check tire tread level, inspect tie rods, bearings, bushings, brake rotors, pads and lines. check for leaks for pretty much everything, lighting, and check frame and stuff for any weak spots. do more but i cant remember.

Why?! Silicone keeps the rubber soft makes it less likely to crack over time.
another good use for silicone spray is for your door weatherstripping. if you live up north where we get snow and freezing rain, it helps keep your doors from freezing shut. only have to do it like once a year or so. i did this with my firebird because it had direct glass to weatherstripping contact. no metal above the window. i was worried about pulling too hard and breaking my window. silicone spray made it as if it were a normal day....after you scrape off the 1/4 inch thick layer of ice i mean
